Winter is still not here, but it is time for preparations! I wanted to dedicate November for knitting mittens, and this is my first pair; almost done! I wanted to use a lifted stitches technique (trellis type) but ran into some difficulties… Increasing for the thumb is not easy to do when you want to keep the structure, and I had to skip several of the lifted stitches to make it work.
It is ok for this pair, but I need to figure out how I can do it more nicely! And it is the first time I make a thumb in the side “seam” and not in front of the mitten. It is actually quite comfortable and then the mittens haveย identical shapes (and not mirrored). The yarn selected for these mittens is quite exclusive; it is a silk and merino blend from SweetGeorgia yarns. It has a beautiful blue colour and the small variations worksย pretty nice with thisย structuralย effect!
